Time – Do you want more or less? Embrace the now instead.

Hello my fellow human Beings:

Time – It’s a concept we grapple with every day.

Often, we seem to want more time.

We want more time:

  • to enjoy our summer vacations;
  • to play with our kids; or
  • to relax and have fun doing what we like.

Sometimes, we seem to want less time.

We want less time:

  • until we see positive results from our exercises;
  • until we experience improvements from our medical treatments; or
  • until the work week is over and we can enjoy the long weekend.

With this endless chasing of time, wanting more or wanting less of it, we unsuccessfully try to prolong the pleasant memories of the past, or hurry along into the future in the hope of attaining freedom from the unpleasantness we experience.

Yet, we forget about the power of the Now.

When we endlessly focus on the past or the future, trying to grasp at more or less time, we are like a hamster running aimlessly on its wheel.  We go nowhere fast.  We stay locked in our cage shackled to the illusion of time.  We stay trapped in the same vicious cycle of repeated suffering.

This is akin to how Albert Einstein defines insanity:

 “Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

So it’s time to get off that hamster wheel, break our obsession with psychological time, and embrace the now instead.

Contemporary spiritual teacher, Eckhart Tolle, in his book, The Power of Now explains this point as follows:

“The more you are focused on time –past and future – the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is.

 Why is it the most precious thing?  Firstly, because it is the only thing.  It’s all there is. …Life is now.  There was never a time when your life was not now, nor will there ever be.  Secondly, the Now is the only point that can take you beyond the limited confines of the mind.  It is your only point of access into the timeless and formless realm of Being.”

So embrace the present moment right now.

STOP!!

Whatever you are doing as you read this, just pause for a moment. (Take a break from the multi-tasking.)   Safely, close your eyes.  ….PAUSE… and JUST BREATHE.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

 Breathe in.

 Breathe out.

Be still with yourself in this moment.

Connect with your True Being in this instance.

Feel the now.

Experience the now.

 Live the now.

Break free from the treadmill of society’s demands and for just a little while, just BE in the Now.

Finding time daily to pause, be still, and connect to our Divine Essence by embracing the now, helps us truly live abundantly.

Here’s to your abundant life – RIGHT NOW!!!
