Here I am,
Sitting on the dock by the lake,
Just being still in nature.
As I look out and see the trees reflected on the calm, shimmering lake-mirror,
- a butterfly flutters by from shore bush to shore flower,
- frogs croak out their morning song,
- loons call out across the lake, and
- every now and then, a fish jumps out and splashes away.
Calmness and stillness surround me,
As I breathe in and breathe out,
That calmness and stillness infuses into me.
Fears float away,
Doubts drift off,
Worries wade away.
These shrouds of negativity shed off like scales from an old snake-skin,
And I am left with just me, the REAL ME,
… at peace …,
… connected to all …, and
… in love of all.
And so this pause break,
This Still Spot,
Has renewed me,
To go back and continue the work,
To keep at it and to not quit.
Hello my fellow human Beings:
Do you feel like you are at your wits’ end?
Do you feel despair for no or poor progress on your quest?
Do you feel so down from your failed attempts that you want to just throw in the towel and give it all up?
Well, don’t just yet.
FEEL AS ONE.
Then move on.
Whether your struggle is:
- to find a job,
- to lose weight,
- to kick-start a new business, or
- to cope with a health crisis,
there will be times when the battle seems futile,
the road ahead seems too steep to climb and you have been sliding back.
But before you decide to throw in the towel forever,
take some time to pause, renew and reconnect, and reflect on the words of this poem, “Don’t Quit” (author unknown):
“When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit –
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow …
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.”
So I invite you all to find some quiet place and time, wherever you are, to pause, be still, reconnect, renew and don’t quit. ….Then re-energized, take the next step to live your life more abundantly!
