The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines PRIDE as “consciousness of one’s own dignity”.
Are you conscious of your own worth as a precise, unique Being worthy of honour and respect?
Well, if you aren’t aware of it, you should take the time to be still and reflect on it.
This week is the perfect time to reflect on your own dignity as in Toronto, Canada we celebrate Pride Week and Canada Day. One is a celebration of the uniqueness and diversity of human Beings regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, and the other is a celebration of the rights, freedoms and privileges we, as Canadians, share in a country that embraces diversity like no other country in the world.
Canada, made up of human Beings, may not be perfect, as all humans are not perfect. Canada may need to grow, as all humans need to grow. Regardless, in my opinion, Canada is the greatest country in the world and I AM PROUD TO BE CANADIAN and thankful that I get to live, grow and be here.
As we celebrate our pride this week, I wanted to share with you two quotes I found about being proud of this great nation we live in.
“Whether we live together in confidence and cohesion; with more faith and pride in ourselves and less self-doubt and hesitation; strong in the conviction that the destiny of Canada is to unite, not divide; sharing in cooperation, not in separation or in conflict; respecting our past and welcoming our future.” Lester Pearson
“In a world darkened by ethnic conflicts that tear nations apart, Canada stands as a model of how people of different cultures can live and work together in peace, prosperity, and mutual respect.” Bill Clinton
Plus, I just loved this quote from Marianne Williamson: “God is definitely out of the closet.”
So this week, find the time to be still, reflect and be aware of all that makes you proud of being You and live your life abundantly!
Happy Canada Day, Happy Pride and Happy You everyone!
